San-X is a portfolio of relaxed, comforting lifestyle characters. The overarching feeling is calm, cozy, and a little lazy in the most endearing way. Each sub-brand has its own palette, but all share soft edges, muted tones, and an unhurried mood.
DO
- Treat each sub-brand with its own approved palette and supporting cast.
- Use soft, matte textures and rounded compositions.
- Keep layouts minimal and breathable so characters read clearly.
- Reference the per-character guide for mascot-specific rules.
DON'T
- Don't mix characters from different San-X sub-brands in one lock-up without approval.
- Don't apply heavy gradients, drop shadows, or glossy 3D effects.
- Don't crop characters so their faces are cut off.
- Don't use loud, saturated, or neon backgrounds.
Color palette
Typography
Use a light, rounded sans-serif throughout. Maintain a quiet, editorial hierarchy with comfortable line spacing. Avoid bold, condensed, or decorative fonts that compete with the artwork.
Clear space & sizing
Provide clear space equal to half a character's body height around any lock-up. Minimum on-screen height is 88px; minimum print height is 14mm.
