How licensing works on Iptoria

A plain-English walkthrough of how a license deal goes from browsing to a signed, on-chain agreement.

4 min read

Iptoria is a marketplace for licensing intellectual property — think of it as the Stripe for IP. Creators list assets with configurable terms, and licensees browse, configure a deal, and check out in minutes. This guide explains the end-to-end flow.

The lifecycle of a deal

  1. 1Browse the marketplace and open an asset you want to license.
  2. 2Configure your terms — territory, period, quantity, and exclusivity — using the asset configurator.
  3. 3Review the live price, which updates as you change terms.
  4. 4Check out. A license agreement is generated and an on-chain anchor is recorded for provenance.
  5. 5Access your license, invoices, and renewal options from your dashboard.

Who's involved

  • Creators / rights holders list IP and set the terms they're willing to offer.
  • Licensees configure and purchase rights for a specific use case.
  • Iptoria handles pricing, payments, royalty splits, and provenance.

This is an MVP demo environment. No real payments are processed and on-chain anchoring is simulated for demonstration.
